View Full Version : How can I post pics that are too big

I thought I had seen a post regarding this a while ago, but can't find it.
I tried to upload two photos, but they are over 100000 bytes. Now I have no idea how to make them smaller myself. Any bright ideas (with VERY simple instructions)?
Thank you for any help!
DeeKay

DeeKay,
This was discussed on an earlier thread, but I'll repeat the information here (and I'm posting a "forbidden" link, but making an exception again :))
Download the software called "image resizer" from the site below. When you have it on your machine, it is EASY to just click to resize your photo before attaching to posts.

If you have any problems please PM David for more instructions. He's the expert in this type of thing.

Hi Deekay,
Not as convenient but I also wanted to add that you can use an on line pic resizer. Just google the words and include free & on line in your search. My computer is in storage at the moment so it has not been an option to download a program - and this has been handy.

Hi Dee Kay
If you have microsoft office on your computer, you will have microsoft office picture manager. Open your picture with the picture manager, click on edit pictures (top of the screen) then click on resize and then it is really easy to change the size of your pic.
Hope this helps

Dear Jody, Robyn and Gabby,
Thank you all for your quick replies. As I'm at work I don't dare download anything, but I have tried to work with the pic manager that Gabby suggested. I have managed to resize the pics, but unfortunately they lose some of the quality.
I will now try and upload them in a new thread.

Also, Google has a free picture organizer/editor which I find wonderfully useful. (Just google "free google picture software" without the quotes...it'll come up first link.)
That software also has a web album feature, so you can upload pictures into albums that you wish to share.

I am always amazed at how quickly replies take! :)
The Microsoft image resizer that Jody posted is the best way. There's no image quality loss and the application is available in your right click menu for any photo, so there's no program to open or manage.
Enjoy!

Or if you have a mac, take your picture to IPhoto, click on the icon to include it in mail, and when it shows up you can pick a size. Then you move it to your desktop, close everything up and select your photo from the desktop listing.
Good luck!
