Has anyone completely turned around a failed relationship?

I saw my ex yesterday after 8 months of not seeing him or speaking. We laughed and cried and had the most amazing night together. It felt like home being with him. We have a very deep love for each other but because of circumstances we cannot be together.

We've both tried moving on but it hasnt happened. We love each other so muc, and we both want a family and life together, even though we know its not possible.

Has anyone had success in being with their love even though its failed and been so bad in the past?
