Feeling pretty down - any advice?

Hi, everyone! This is my first time posting on these forums and I've been overwhelmed by the kindness I've seen here. I was wondering if I could perhaps ask you guys for advice in improving my life. I'm pretty new to the LOA and I don't know much apart from the basics - visualisation, affirmations, vibrations.

Basically, my life at the moment isn't going so great. I'm 18 and still studying at school. I started a new school last year and struggled to find any friends and I felt like I didn't really 'click' with anyone. Now it's summer I've spent all my time at home and the negative environment is horrible. Since learning about LOA I've become really sensitive to using negative words and phrases and living with my negative Dad who shouts and swears all the time is unbearable. I'm also supposed to be heading to university next year but I still don't know what course I want to take, let alone what future jobs I want.

I just feel so low. I have no friends and a negative family. I've never felt like "WOW, my life is fantastic and exciting". Instead, it just seems to be a numb blur of routine. I spend my days on the computer watching movies to try and get some escape but then reality hits me when the credits roll. I can get into a really positive mood and feel the joy that comes with knowing I can attract anything that I want but then as soon as I leave the peaceful confinements of my room and try and apply this when I'm with family or at school I just get brought back down again.

I hope this thread didn't bring any of you down. Much love to you all. xxxx

The best advice is not to try to jump from horrible negative environment to "WOW, my life is fantastic and exciting." Rather, just gently try to feel a little better. If you'll focus on feeling a little better and do it consistently, you'll make your way to where you want to be.

I know how you feel. It helps to find things to be thankful about. I like that I have a solid roof over my head and a comfortable bed. I am grateful for healthy food, the things that I have, a car that reliably transports me to where I want to go, and my health.

I can take a deep breath and it calms me. There are things to be thankful about. Like being able to watch movies. And computers.

It's all about focus. We can do it.

From experience I can say that when you work on going general, looking for positive things, affirmations or starting on any of the processes that Abraham give - you will see your life change. It happens so naturally, even gradually at times, that you hardly notice the subtle changes and then one day you look around and notice that your family are gentler, nonabusive anymore and that you attract a loving, caring person into your life. And that even though you spent ages deciding what career you wanted, you are now respected and in a wonderful job that you could not believe existed - like it was created just for you. People want to be with you because you have a happy, attractive aura. You have put so many wonderful things into your Vortex and they are waiting for you - happiness, ease, joy, friendship, clarity, fun, kindness, good relationships. Smile kiddo - You are well on your way.

    Hi LoveLightLea!

I completely agree Marc. You first have to make peace with where you are.
and then take little steps up.

I would recommend journaling how you feel and your thoughts and making complete peace with it. that will slow down your thoughts and put you in a more neutral vibration open to thoughts and ideas that will help you shift.

I would also recommend noticing what brings you joy in life.. what do you love..
what makes you happy...anything at all.
    a cup of coffee..
    petting your cat
    listening to a song..
what classes at school do you enjoy or might you like to try for something new?

and make a list of the positive aspects of your family and situation..

    like having a home
    a meal
    getting an education
    your health

I hope this helped some. You'll get a lot of good advice here, I'm sure.

some of our members here do a 30 day challenge thread on a specific subject they want to improve on.

You could do "30 Days of feeling a little bit better everyday"
Members will join in with uplifting quotes, feel good images and advice to help create it to happen for you.
