Our Policy regarding Deletion of Posts & Threads

Our Policy regarding Deletion of Posts & Threads

The Abe Forum is based on the vibration of appreciation. It is in that spirit of appreciation that we have formulated our policies about deleting posts and threads.

Paying attention to how we feel and what we're thinking is a key skill in the application of these teachings. Because this skill is critical to our understanding of our own alignment and because our own "alignment trumps everything," we ask each member of the Abe Forum to check in with their emotional guidance and the content of their post to make sure that it is pointed in the direction of what they want. And we appreciate our many members who do just that.

But sometimes, we post something that we wished we hadn't. That's happened to all of us at one point or another. So, the software on the Abe Forum allows you to delete your post yourself for a reasonable time period after you've posted it.

Let's talk about that "reasonable time." We started this answer talking about appreciation. One of the things we appreciate is the responsive, caring community here on the Abe Forum. Part of our determination of "reasonable" is the likelihood of your attracting a response (or significant discussion) after your posting. After all, it's not appreciative to invite discussion and then, after significant discussion has manifested, make like the invitation never occurred. Be that as it may, rest assured that we have estimated "reasonable" in your favor.

Another factor that we used to determine "reasonable" is the activity of the search engines. The Abe Forum is a public forum, which means that, not only can the entire world view our threads without registering, we are visited--on a regular basis--by the automated programs of the many commercial search engines, who collect our posts so that they may return accurate and timely results for our search queries. After a certain point (which is beyond the direct control of the Abe Forum), our posts are captured and made available in places beyond the Abe Forum. At that point, deleting a post here on the Abe Forum becomes moot.

If you'd like to learn more about how to delete your own post, click here.

If you're no longer able to delete your own post, please send a Private Message to a moderator, who will then decide if that's the best course of action.

Only moderators have the ability to delete a thread. If you would like your thread deleted, please send a Private Message to a moderator, who will decide if that's the best course of action.

Please understand that, if a post or a thread has attracted replies, it is the policy of the Abe Forum to leave the post or thread as it is. We have a variety of reasons for our policy.

But, in practical terms, given the way the Internet currently operates, after a very short period of time, deleting a thread on the Abe Forum no longer serves any purpose. We are visited almost constantly by the automated programs by which the commercial search engines scoop up and store the content of our Forum. Once they do that, your content resides on their servers, over which we have no control. Deleting your thread from our server no longer prevents others from seeing your post. Once the search engines get a hold of it, the whole Internet can potentially see your posts, for as long as those companies wish to store and present your post. Since there is no meaningful "positive" to be gained from deleting posts and thread which have attracted replies and since such deletions can negatively impact the conversations which we all find so valuable here on the Forum, we have come to our current policy. That being said, as an Aber, you can focus in such a way that your post or thread no longer impacts your vibration. When you can do this, for all intents and purposes, you have "vibrationally deleted" your post or thread.

If you have specific questions about this policy which we haven't addressed here, please feel free to send a Private Message to one of our moderators. (See a list of moderators here.)

    Our Promotion-Free Policy

    Our Promotion-Free Policy

The Abe Forum is a promotion-free, commercial-free and solicitation-free zone. It is our intention that the discussions here freely unfold along their paths of most allowing. We believe that this can best happen without the agendas of business interests and/or promotion. This policy extends beyond the threads into the Groups and the communications functions (such as the Private Messaging or members' emails) associated with the Abe Forum.

We believe this so strongly that blatant violation of this policy is sufficient reason to revoke--without further notification--a members' account here on the Abe Forum. We consider this clear statement, along with the clear statement provided in David's Welcome Letter to each member as well as elsewhere on the Abe Forum, to be sufficient notice of this policy. So, we reserve the right to revoke a member's account on the Abe Forum for infringement of our Promotion-Free Policy without any further notice.

Even though the Forum software provides each of us a space for it, we ask that you not post anything which functions as a web address (e.g., your business' home page, your Facebook page, your blog, your art.com page, your LinkedIn profile, your Instagram account, etc.) in your Profile. The moderators will edit your Profile to remove the address.

If you have additional questions about this policy, please feel free to send a Private Message to a moderator and we'll be happy to answer them for you. Click here for a list of moderators.

    Our Sounding Board Policy

    Our Sounding Board Policy

We feel strongly enough about this piece of Abraham wisdom that we've posted a sticky with this policy in all the important discussion sub-forums. We're not being mean. We have adopted this policy at the direct recommendation of Abraham themselves. David says it best:

We're just asking you to make your statement of intention. What is the intention in this segment of life experience? Is your intention to chart thoughtways that will lead to a construction of a project that's just going to thrill you when it manifests? Or is your intention to construct something that doesn't please you?
    ...
We just want you to understand that every single minute of every single day, you have the option of constructing wanted or unwanted things.
Period. Period. Period. Period. Period. Period. PERIOD.
There isn't any other way of going about this. And you can tell by the way you feel which you are doing....

The above statement reflects good Abraham work and applies to posting here on this forum. Before creating a new thread, check for how it feels to you. Ask yourself: Is there more energy on what you want in your posting, or more of what you do not want?

    The original thread that discusses this important idea may be read here;

    http://www.abeforum.com/showthread.p...EFORE-POSTING)

Great thanks go to the moderators and your co-Administrator Marc for all they do, for all the loving positive energy they bring, and to everyone that participates in this amazing thing we know as Abraham-Hicks appreciators here.

    with Love and abounding appreciation.
    David

Personalizing Your Forum Experience (AKA User Control Panel and Settings)

Personalizing Your Forum Experience (AKA User Control Panel and Settings)

The software which runs the Abe Forum gives us the ability to personalize how you see your forum. You can customize colors, how you receive notifications from the Abe Forum, even the order in which threads are displayed. Check out your Settings page, which can be accessed through the link in the upper right corner of the masthead atop every page of the Abe Forum. While you're at it, check out your Control Panel, found on your Settings page.

One thing that you can't personalize at this time as your own standard settings to format your post. Those you get to select each time you post.

If this does not sufficiently answer your questions, please open up a thread in our Technical Questions sub-forum, asking the question you'd like answered.

What happens if I run afoul of the Abe Forum policies?

What happens if I run afoul of the Abe Forum policies?

We like the word "policies" because our polices here on the Abe Forum are intended to help us focus. As you know, focus is skill that's critical for the successful application of these teachings.

We understand, as Abers, that we are all freedom-seeking beings. As such, we tend to be drama-free when it comes to the monitoring of our policies. In most initial cases, the infringing post will be edited or deleted by a moderator. It's our practice to leave a brief note of explanation as to our moderator's actions. These notes are not intended to shame or embarrass, simply to explain.

If you have any questions about a moderator's action, please send a Private Message (PM) to the moderator in question. Please do not start your discussion in the thread. Discussion of moderator actions are off-topic in the open threads and will be deleted.

If we notice a tendency of infringement on one or more of the Abe Forum policies, it is our custom to discuss this tendency with you via Private Message. Sometimes, a moderator might feel inspired to send courtesy copies of their message to you to other members of moderating team. Again, this action is not to shame or humiliate anyone, but to more effectively communicate with the other members of the moderating team.

It is rare, but occasionally we will close a member's account without warning. We do reserve or right to do so at our discretion. Typically, this occurs (but is not limited to) when a member violates our Promotion-Free Policy or is rude, harassing or abusive to other members. While we reserve the right to do so at our discretion, please be assured that we tend to do this only in the extremest of circumstances.

How do I flag a post or a discussion which isn't aligned with any of these policies?

How do I flag a post or a discussion which isn't aligned with any of these policies?

There is a little black triangle on the left lower corner of every post. That is to alert us, the moderators, of something we have not seen yet or missed that does not feel right, is off topic, or needs our attention. Please do not hesitate to use this feature. It can really help sometimes.

    Thanks so much, everyone.

Built-in FAQ pages for our software

Built-in FAQ pages for our software

In the middle of the dark bar along the bottom of the Abe Forum masthead, you'll find a link to the FAQ pages for the software, which runs the Abe Forum. These helpful pages can give you a lot of information about the features of the software, which powers the Abe Forum. We recommend that you check out those pages first and when you have questions about the many features and settings of the Abe Forum software.

This thread is intended to supplement those pages, adding information about features and practices specific to the Abe Forum.

If you have a question which is not answered in either the software FAQ pages or this Abe Forum Common Questions thread, please open a thread in our Technical Questions sub-forum or send a Private Message to one of our moderators. (Click here for a list of moderators.)

    Searching the Abe Forum

    Searching the Abe Forum

The Abe Forum is equipped with a handy, built-in search engine, which can be accessed through the white text box and the Advanced Search link right below the text box, both in the lower right corner of the masthead atop every page of the Abe Forum. The text box will return everything which matches your keyword(s). The Advanced Search function offers a variety of filters to customize your searches.

You can also search within a sub-forum (There's a Search Forum pull-down menu in the header bar atop the list of threads for that sub-forum.) or even with a thread (There's a Search Thread pull-down menu in the header bar atop each page of each thread).

While we appreciate the built-in Forum search engine, it has some limitations. To find more results that the handy, built-in Forum search engine can't, you can use your favorite commercial search engine to search the Abe Forum for you. Simply type your keywords into search box of your favorite commercial search engine and add "site:abeforum.com" (without the quotation marks) after your keywords and let the LoA bring to you your results.

The Sub-Forums on the Abe Forum

The Sub-Forums on the Abe Forum

On the main home page of the Abe Forum, you'll find a brief description of focus for each of our sub-forums. You'll soon get your own feel for which sub-forum is for what. In the meantime, don't overly concern yourself with that. If a moderator feels that your placement is better-suited elsewhere, we will simply move it. (No fuss, no muss.) Typically, when we make such a move, we leave a temporary redirect link in your old placement, so that you can find your thread's new home. Please keep in mind that those links are temporary, so it's a good idea to start learning the new placement of your thread.

To help you decide where to play next or where to place your thread, we offer these supplemental descriptions:
Abraham-Hicks Teachings and You--the place to go if you want to ask a question, discuss a concept of these teachings or to offer an answer of your own. If you're asking, please remember to focus your asking into a question. Please read the sticky in that sub-forum before posting.

Rampages of Appreciation--Appreciation is the foundation of the Abe Forum. Because this Abraham Process is so beloved, we have created a space just for your Rampages of Appreciation. We ask that our Forum friends familiarize themselves with Abraham's instructions for this Process before posting in this sub-forum.

Abraham Quotations--Our Forum friends have lovingly transcribed the wit and wisdom of Abraham so that you might enjoy that here. Please note that this is not a sub-forum for discussion. If you'd like to discuss a quote, please open a thread in our Abraham-Hicks Teachings and You sub-forum with the quote that you'd like to discuss.

Abraham Singles, Friendships, and "Who is Where" Information--If you're looking for Abraham friends, this is the place to find them!

Success Stories and Manifestations--Come share your successes and your manifestations with us! More importantly, let your Forum friends know which Abraham ideas or techniques you used towards your alignment with your successful manifestations.

Practicing the Teachings--Our special place where our Forum friends can actually apply these teachings and play with their Processes. It's a great place to pick or share Abraham pointers and tips. We ask our Forum friends to please respect the intentions of the individual thread opener. Some of our Forum friends wish only to be coached and to receive tips. Some prefer to work in groups. Some prefer to work in private. We welcome and respect this variety.

Tell us about yourself--The name says it all! This is center-stage for you to introduce yourself to your new Forum friends and to tell us how Abraham has influenced your life.

The Abraham Video Forum--We enjoy discussing the finer points and greater depths of the clips from the official Abraham-Hicks YouTube channel. If you learn of a new official clip that is not yet in this sub-forum, please let us know (either by a PM to a Moderator or by using the handy Contact Us link at the bottom of each page of the Forum).

Technical Questions--The sub-forum where this thread is now located. Also, the place for you to ask your additional questions about the operation and function of the Abe Forum. If you have a question about the teachings themselves, you'll attract more helpful response if you open your thread in the Abraham-Hicks Teachings and You sub-forum instead.

Resource Pages and Posting Guidelines--Although this sub-forum is closed to new posting, it's chock full of great tools and resources to help you in your application of these teachings. Check it out! If you think of a resource which matches the intentions and principles of the Abe Forum but are not yet discussed in this sub-forum, please let us know (either by PM to a Moderator or by using the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page of the Forum)!

The Playroom--The social hub of the Abe Forum. It's also the place where our picture-posters can hang out.
