    PORTS OF CALL

    Barcelona, Spain
Founded as a Roman city in the Middle Ages, Barcelona is a leading tourist, economic, and cultural center, influencing world commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, cuisine and the arts — contributing to its status as one of the world's major global cities. This stylish city has its own language and culture. The soul of old Barcelona is its Gothic Quarter. If you have extra time in Barcelona, don't miss the Picasso Gallery, where several adjoining 15th-century palaces house over 2,000 pieces of his work. Stroll along Las Ramblas, a wonderfully vibrant part of the city where street vendors and performers vie for your attention.

    Sete, France
An attractive fishing village just 18 miles southeast of Montpelier, important for over 300 years, it still has a lively fishing port lined with buildings painted with rich ochre, rust and blue. Canals winding through town make it fun to stroll around. This is the place for some of the best seafood in France, prepared from the catches that land up in the harbor daily. The little Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette chapel was originally part of a hermitage, built as protection against pirates by the Duke of Montmorency and the top part of the town climbs up Mont St-Clair to the panoramic Parc des Pierres Banches. Sete also makes a good base for exploring the surrounding region and the sparkling Mediterranean coast.

    Provence, (Toulon) France
Toulon is a French naval port nestled between a beautiful natural harbor and imposing Mont Faron. It is your starting point for exploring Provence, from maritime Marseilles and chic St. Tropez, to picturesque villages and medieval towns. The historic city of Aix-en-Provence, with over 300 days of sunshine each year, is an ideal place to enjoy the lively city squares, outdoor restaurants and cafés. For the perfect photo op take a cable car to the peak of Mon Faron. There are plenty of places to shop for designer fashions, fine jewelry and French perfume. Catch some Mediterranean sunshine at Plage du Mourillon - the seaport's most popular beach.

    Nice, (Villefranche)France
With its mix of real-city grit, old-world opulence, year-round sunshine and stunning seaside location, Nice is the unofficial capital of the Cóte d'Azur, and the jewel of the French Riviera. It's been a magnet for sun seekers and high-rollers since the 19th century. This bewitching coastal city has so much to offer — fabulous markets, and enticing old town, glorious architecture and a wealth of super restaurants. It is home to some of the world's most luxurious hotels and terrace cafés. Stroll the ultra-famous Promenade des Anglais or see masterpieces by Matisse, Renoir, Monet and Chagall in one of Nice's many museums.

    Rome, (Civitavecchia),
    Italy
Civitavecchia, settled in 108 A.D. by the Emperor Trajan has served faithfully as a gateway to the capital of the Empire — Rome the “Eternal City”. Once the center of the Ancient World from which emperors ruled over nearly all of western civilization, Rome is still a cultural mecca. Here the ancient capital of the western world and the center of Christianity for nearly 2,000 years is spread out before you. Visit the Coliseum and Roman Forum, the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica, or the fashionable boutiques around the Spanish Steps. The entire city is a living museum. You will discover some of the most famous churches, monuments and fountains in the entire world.

    Naples / Capri, Italy
    and the Amalfi Coast
Framed by Mount Vesuvius along a dramatic skyline, the 2,800 year-old port city of Naples is chock full of historical sites, churches, and museums that make it an incredible place for you to explore. Take a journey back into time by a visit to the ruins of Pompeii, which offered the world its first glimpse into ancient Roman life. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. left us with some of the best preserved ruins in the world. Magnificent beauty awaits you on the magical island of Capri or the legendary drive along the Amalfi Coast with quaint picturesque villages and unique vantage points to take in the beauty of the Tyrrhenian Sea and incredible stretch of Italian coastline.

    Valletta, Malta
Valletta, Malta's capital and a World Heritage site, is nothing short of an open-air museum. It is a living experience of Baroque architecture, a monument donated by the Knights of St. John nearly five centuries ago. Throughout the years, Valletta has welcomed emperors, heads of state, artists and poets. The culture of Malta reflects various societies that have come into contact with the Maltese Islands throughout the centuries. Dotted with quaint cafés and wine bars, the city is today one of Malta's main tourist attractions, hosting among others, the majestic St. John's Co-Cathedral, which also provides a stunning snapshot of Malta's Grand Harbor, often described as the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.

    Venice, Italy
Discover the magic of Venice, a city built entirely on water. Along the iconic Piazza San Marco, elaborate buildings attest to its splendor and elegance. The city's character lies along crooked streets and across little bridges with the picturesque gondola rides. St. Mark's Basilica, built to enshrine St. Mark's body in the 9th century, was rebuilt in the 11th century with a new, spectacular edifice. This masterpiece is one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture, with an elaborate five-domed roof and nearly two acres of gold-back mosaics covering its walls, arches, cupolas, vaults, and floors. Many of the sculptures and mosaics were stolen from Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire during the Crusades.

    songbird, lemon!
Your appreciation feels SO good, dear friends!

This cruise will punctuate the big turnaround of our life-conditions, it starts a week after the time when our very last chick has left it´s nest. And in this it feels as an extra celebration of having finished such a big, beautiful, meaningful phase of our life- and starting a new one, that wants to be even more beautiful.

Alignment, richness, beauty, freedom, expansion, love and joy!

    So much love to you!

Thank you Poe and skylark. This will be our second cruise with Abraham. My avatar picture is from our first that we did a few years back and it was the Mediterranean cruise. It was the most wonderful luxurious time ever. I'm sure this one will be equally as fun if not better. We can't wait! It's very exciting that you will be there too.
